Grow PNG Successfully Hosted Inaugural Markham Investor Development Forum

Grow PNG is proud to announce the successful conclusion of our first-ever Markham Valley Investor Development Forum. With the support of our parent organization, Grow Asia, the event took place on March 4th 2024 at the Lae International Hotel in Lae, Morobe Province. The forum gathered a diverse group of participants, including investors, policymakers, farmers, and key stakeholders, all united to engage in meaningful discussions centered around the theme, "Growing the Markham."

The Forum proved to be an excellent platform for insightful conversations, high-level knowledge exchange during panel discussions, and enthusiastic networking and collaboration. It provided delegates with a unique opportunity to explore the incredible business potential in the Markham and Ramu Valleys.

The event showcased various opportunities for accelerating rural economic growth, creating sustainable livelihoods for smallholder farmers, and boosting food production for both local consumption and export.

Farmers from the region presented their locally produced products and innovations, highlighting both their needs and the investment opportunities available in the Markham and Ramu Valleys. Agribusiness investment in these areas was framed not just as a means for economic gain, but as an essential strategy for fostering self-reliance, sustainability, and resilience in the agricultural sector—ultimately improving rural incomes.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all of our event sponsors and partners, especially the Australia PNG Economic Partnership and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Special thanks also go to the landowners, the Markham District Development Authority, and the Australian High Commission Papua New Guinea for their invaluable support.

Grow PNG remains committed to supporting and collaborating with the Markham District Development Authority, as well as other districts, landowners, and agribusinesses, to continue driving agricultural economic development in the region. We appreciate everyone who participated and contributed to the success of the forum and look forward to further strengthening these partnerships in the future.

Thank you once again to all involved in making the forum a resounding success.
